Scenarios
Groups – Prepared Materials – 20+ Minutes

How to Run Scenarios
- Before the session, prepare a handout with a clearly articulated scenario and specific question(s) for groups to work through
- If doing multiple questions, put them into separate boxes to indicate length of response expected on the handout
- Explain the process to the group
- If the scenario is relatively short, read the entire scenario before breaking them into groups
- Break everyone up into groups of 3-5 people and make sure everyone has a handout
- Let them know how long they’ll have to complete the worksheet
- When therea are two minutes left, ask each group to select a spokesperson to share out for their group
- Bring everyone back, and ask the spokespeople to identify themselves
- Hear thoughts from the groups
Example & Prompt
You are teaching the group how to be better facilitators. You’ve introduced a number of different processes they can use to guide their group through a brainstorm.
You give them a scenario detailing a specific group they’re tasked with working with, and ask them to decide which brainstorming tactic they would use and why.
When you have spokespeople to share, outline how their share should sound. Let them know whether they should go in-depth or simply name the process that was chosen.
