Different Angles

Groups  –   Pen & Paper  –  20+ Minutes

How to Run Different Angles

  1. Identify a main concept and several distinct components
  2. Explain to the group that they will be working in small groups to brainstorm thoughts on a single assigned component
  3. Assign groups and have participants sit together, providing each group one component or angle
  4. Pass out materials and start the timer
  5. After brainstorm is done, have everyone come back together for a debrief
    1. If you’d like one person to share from each group, remind them to select their representative during their discussion

Examples & Prompts

Concept #1

“What are our goals as a company?”

Angles: “We’re going to explore some of the past goals we no longer have, what our current goals are, and what goals people imagine goals will be in the future.”

Concept #2

“We have been tasked with putting on a mini-conference and need to think about all of the moving pieces to making a successful event happen.”

Angles: “We’re going to start with looking at people, rules, physical space, registration, and key events.”

Concept #3

“We are starting to take on more workshops and want to systematize our processes as a business.”

Angles: “What are all the things we need to do before the contract is signed and after we’ve agreed to the gig? What happens on delivery day, and for follow-up?”
