Causal Diagram
Groups – Flipchart & Stickies – 20+ Minutes

How to Run Causal Diagram
- Explain how the process will work
- Pass out sticky notes and markers
- Start writing components on sticky notes
- Put all sticky notes up on the board. After all the stickies are up, then begin to build causal relationships
- Start with the earliest components and figure out what they flow into, drawing connections to other sequences
- Draw relationships on sticky notes or use a dry-erase board to maintain flexibility while building the diagram
- Add and move components until the group is satisfied with the diagram
Example & Prompt
Your team is building a new website. You want your group to understand all the related steps to making this website. Having captured all of the components on separate sticky notes, create a Causal Diagram to help people understand the different steps and the relationships between those steps.
