Causal Diagram

Groups  –   Flipchart & Stickies   –  20+ Minutes

How to Run Causal Diagram

  1. Explain how the process will work
  2. Pass out sticky notes and markers
  3. Start writing components on sticky notes
  4. Put all sticky notes up on the board. After all the stickies are up, then begin to build causal relationships
  5. Start with the earliest components and figure out what they flow into, drawing connections to other sequences
  6. Draw relationships on sticky notes or use a dry-erase board to maintain flexibility while building the diagram
  7. Add and move components until the group is satisfied with the diagram

Example & Prompt

Your team is building a new website. You want your group to understand all the related steps to making this website. Having captured all of the components on separate sticky notes, create a Causal Diagram to help people understand the different steps and the relationships between those steps.
