Frequently Asked Questions
Everybody – Flipchart & Markers – 15 Minutes

How to Run Frequently Asked Questions
- Before a session, prepare a numbered list of questions that are frequently asked in your facilitation context or that you specifically hope you’ll get to answer in this session
- When it’s time, reveal the list to the group and read each question out loud, preceding the question with the associated number
- Ask the group to shout out the corresponding number of the question they’d like answered
- Pick one of the shouted-out numbers, read the question, and then answer
- Have the group ask more questions until time is up
Example & Prompt
Frequently Asked Questions should always be highly tailored to your context and setting. They should be the questions you know your group is interested in. If you aren’t sure what questions they might have, it may not be the right process for the moment!
For example, below is our list of FAQs that we shared during a two-day retreat focused on up-skilling facilitators in a nonprofit organization.
- When is it appropriate to stop a tangential conversation that people are excited about?
- How can you facilitate on Zoom in a way that encourages relationships?
- If I’m facilitating a serious topic next to a room with a fun loud group, how do I deal with the cheerful noise?
- How can I facilitate when people in the room know more about the subject than I do?
- How do you facilitate a reoccurring meeting in a way that keeps it interesting?
- How do you deal with contrarians?
- How do you engage participants when they want and expect a lecture?
Frequently Asked Questions is one of our favorite Facilitator Cards! Check out this video for more about how we use FAQ to enhance any Q&A.
