How to Run Hot Seat
- Put a chair at the front of the room (or wherever everyone can best see/hear the person occupying the seat). To run Hot Seat online, pin or spotlight the person answering questions
- Select a participant to sit in the chair. You can choose based on expertise, ask for a volunteer, or put yourself in the Hot Seat
- Have the group ask the person in the Hot Seat questions for no longer than 10 minutes
Example & Prompt
“We’re going to be putting Sandra in the Hot Seat. For the next 5 to 10 minutes, you all are going to ask Sandra questions about the marketing strategy that her team has presented. We’re going to do this by raising our hands and I’ll call on you. Once Sandra’s answered, I’ll tell you if we have time for follow-up questions. You’re all tasked with coming up with questions and Sandra is being tasked with answering them. We’re going to try and answer three to five questions so please try to keep that in mind with the length of your responses. All right! Who has a question for Sandra?”
