Conversation Pods
Groups – No Supplies – 15 Minutes
How to Run Conversation Pods
- Let the group know what prompts, topics, and/or questions they’ll be discussing (be sure these are all written clearly somewhere that all the groups can see) and how much time they’ll have for discussion
- Break everyone up into small groups (3-5 people). These can be random or intentionally made groups
- Invite everyone to move so that their group can all see each other before starting the timer
- (Optional) Ask them to appoint a spokesperson to speak about their group’s discussion at some point during the conversation
- (Optional) Once the timer is up, have the spokespeople share out their group’s response
If doing this online, make sure directions and prompts are in the chat before you open the breakout rooms.
Example & Prompt
The group just finished working through a scenario as individuals. You want them to discuss what it was like to work through the questions and anywhere they got stuck.
Before you tackle the worksheet as the larger group, you want everyone to do some level of discussion and reveal before entering the large group conversation.
In Conversation Pods, have the small groups discuss before moving to the large group discussion.
