Statement Signs

Everybody  –   Paper & Markers   –  15 Minutes

How to Run Statement Signs

  1. Explain the process to the group
  2. Provide the prompt the group will be responding to
  3. Pass out materials (pro tip: use bold markers to make signs easier to read)
  4. Give everyone 1-2 minutes to create their sign
  5. Have everyone move around the space holding their sign in front of them while reading each other’s
  6. After all signs have been read, bring the group back for debrief

Example & Prompt

It’s important that everyone’s statement fits on their sign. We recommend using a Fill In The Blank style of prompt helps the group keep their responses brief.

This process can be used in a wide variety of situations:

  • “Ultimately I think facilitation is about ___”
  • “As a facilitator I’m most thrown off by ___”
  • “The part of this new policy that most concerns me is ___”
  • “I believe we have a responsibility to ___”
