Urgent Vs. Important

Everybody  –  Flipchart & Stickies   –  15 Minutes

How to Run Urgent Vs. Important

  1. Create a grid and label the quadrants
  2. Lay out all the elements on individual sticky notes
  3. Evaluate each element of the plan along the matrix lines and placing the sticky note into one of the quadrants
    1. Define the parameters you’re deciding within (what does “important” mean in this context?)
  4. Select one element, have the group discuss which quadrant it should be in
  5. Place the sticky in appropriate quadrant
  6. Repeat with all the elements until each one has been sorted

Example & Prompt

You are planning a company retreat and want to schedule the most urgent and important discussions first within the agenda, filling in with other topics that the group deems important.
